I have the luck to study in two of the top universities in Europe, TU/e in Eindhoven and KTH in Stockholm and also get a minor in Entrepreneurship besides the Data Science track. I would describe myself as analytical, organizing and pragmatic. I joined Aristotle to get out of my comfort zone, develop my personal skills in social and technical aspects but also implement my knowledge attained from my studies so far in a real-life problem, in realistic conditions. I believe we can really make an impact with innovative ideas and tools but also highlight the advantages of cognitive training in health, education, sports but also in general.
I have a background in Automotive Engineering at Fontys and after completing the pre-master at the start of last year, I started the master. Due to the current global pandemic, the international semester had been cancelled. As an alternative, I knew I wanted to do something pro-active and work on a practical project instead of following more theoretical courses, and the TU/e Innovation Space project could offer just that. At Aristotle I can apply and broaden my knowledge of cognition, combined with a diverse multidisciplinary team there is a lot for me to learn! Together with Aristotle, I believe we can explore and create effective cognitive training tools and lift athletes to the next level both personally and professionally.
During recent years, I became more aware that a vast majority of technological advancements are not put to their full use in the current society. Some reasons for this are the fear of change that a lot of people experience, the lack of knowledge and awareness of the newest applications and because the existing infrastructure cannot keep up with the speed of technological innovation. Therefore, my goal is to inform people about the newest possibilities of the technology of this time and the added value these advancements can have to their daily life by making seemingly complicated technologies easy to use and understand for everyone. This is also why I decided to join Aristotle. I believe that there is still a lot of ground to cover in cognitive training and that we as Aristotle can make a difference.
I strive to be the catalyst in improving quality of life by bridging the gap from theoretical knowledge to practical application for SDG 3: Good Health and Mental Wellbeing. At Aristotle, we achieve this by providing personalized and specialized software with evidence-backed cognitive tasks to improve performance, social participation, and health-related quality of life regardless of your starting position. As the CEO, I am proud to be building and leading this ambitious team, defining the strategy and vision, and managing stakeholder relations. Our working style is co-creation, making you (as the end-user) the central player in our development. We do this because we believe that in order to go far, we go together!
As a highly motivated person, I always strive to perform at my best and I am always up for a challenge in both my studies/work and my private life. About 8 years ago I decided I wanted to study Artificial Intelligence because of an information evening where the professor told us about how your brain can trick you. Even though this field is not my strong suit I have always been interested in the functioning of the brain. The second I saw that TU/e innovation Space offered a challenge in which I could combine this interest with two of my passions: software development and sports, I wanted to join Aristotle. I believe that with Aristotle we can make a big impact in different fields. Being able to help people reach the top of their cognitive abilities in a fun and challenging way is what makes Aristotle special.
The past few years I have spent my time getting a bachelor degree in both Medicine and Biomedical Sciences with a major in Human Movement Sciences. With this background I am dedicated to dive more into the scientific background of cognition and build the scientific evidence around our product. A lot of research is already done in the field of cognition and for example sports but there is still a lot of knowledge to gain. As a team we would like to fill the knowledge gap to help people with cognitive disorders participate in daily activities, improve children their school achievements and make athletes perform even better than they already do.
I am currently finishing my bachelor in Medical Sciences and Technology at the Eindhoven University of Technology, after which I will be doing my masters in Medical Engineering in the Computational Biology research group at the same university. I am currently employed as manager of a cocktailbar in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, and hope to bring managing and business skills learned there to Aristotle. My interests are broad and include business, programming, data science and sports. At Aristotle I can apply my knowledge about these things and broaden them even further. As Product Architect I will be responsible for product requirements and architectural solutions. Working in an interdisciplinary team and working with other companies excites me, because we can only go far if we go together.
Working currently as Coordinator of Education on Entrepreneurial Learning at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, my focus remains on teaching and mentoring innovation and entrepreneurship with multidisciplinary teams of students through a challenge-based education approach. Aiming at creating the π-shape engineers of the future, I pay particular attention to cultural interaction and professional complementarities as key elements in team dynamics. I have built my experience working, not only for international organizations and private sector, but also for the EIT Digital I&E Education team. I am used to saying to my students that the most important capacity is to innovate the proper self and be entrepreneurial throughout your professional life. And in that, I remain an example: I have started as a journalist and innovated myself to an I&E teacher. I always like to challenge my students in mentoring but also in playing soccer and volleyball.
I am a Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Operations Research (OR) entrepreneur and scientist. I have two main scientific and industrial interests i) modeling real-life planning and scheduling problems and using AI, OR, and their combination to solve them and ii) using AI, OR, and their combination to do sports analysis like human pose estimation, cognitive performance assessment, performance prediction in cycling, and match analysis in football. I have held leadership positions at ILOG (France), IBM (France / Netherlands), Quintiq, Eindhoven University of Technology, Dassault Systemes (Netherlands / France ), Jheronimus Academy of Data Science, and More Optimal, where I built up expertise in scientific research, research and development, pre-sales, sales, consulting, training, customer project management, and product management. I currently serve as Scientific Director of the Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute (EAISI), Data Science Advisor for the Performance Analysis and Technology team at KNVB, advisor of several AI start-ups, and Chief Scientific Officer of Artistotle.
After a career as a program maker and presenter for national radio & television, I decided to devote more time to my main areas of interest; art, science & education. At the Eindhoven University of Technology I joined the team that developed a new place on campus: TU/e innovation Space, center of expertise for challenge-based learning and student entrepreneurship. Within innoSpace I work in the communication team, connect to (cultural) stakeholders, and are responsible for the Art & Tech projects. I am also involved in a number of other projects in the region.
My personal motivation is to enhance the health-related quality of life through the means of innovative and ground breaking business solutions. Aristotle Cognitive Grants the opportunity to search for new fields to expand our business, finding new partners and additionally aid in the business aspect of the co-creation process. My theoretical and practical skills, in presenting, researching and entrepreneurship add value to this team in order to lay the foundation for future business expansions, partnerships and new products. I could not find a better company to do my graded business challenge than Aristotle Cognitive Training. When I’m done I am hopefully to stay involved and become a part of the business team of Aristotle Cognitive Training.
